Welcome to the inaugural Deira Islands Triathlon 2020. RaceME would like to thank Nakheel, the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police, UAE Triathlon Federation and all the volunteers for their help and support in pulling this race together on this iconic location for the first time.
We ask that you read all the details outlined in the race information pack (download below) prior to the race and familiarise yourself with the course and the rules. Please also make sure you attend the compulsory race briefing on Zoom, as it is sometimes necessary for last minute changes to be made. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions.

Follow Al Wuheida Street D93 to the end and turn left in direction Shindagha Tunnel/ Bur Dubai.
Then please follow the directions towards Deira Islands.

RACE BRIEFING – Online via ZOOM
There will be a mandatory online race briefing on Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link in a separate email. The briefing will likely be on the Wednesday evening before the event. Please attend this race briefing as any last minute changes will be discussed, as well as any questions answered at the end.
Timing antennas will be positioned at the entry to the water, transition in & out and at the finish line as well as check points on the course. RaceME will endeavour to provide you with all your major timing splits, but this is not guaranteed. Very occasionally, a timing chip may not be read or a timing antenna may fail and timing splits may not be available. You’ll receive a total finish time providing we can see your race number when you cross the finish line. If this is the case we will request your race data form you personally to cross check the reads we have and provide you with a race time. Wearing a personal tracking device is recommended. If you withdraw during the event please make sure you return your timing chip, otherwise we will think you are still out there racing!
A set of results will be available on the RaceME website www.raceme.ae as soon as possible after the event. RaceME hopes they’ll all be perfect, but any queries relating to them should be emailed to them within 48 hours after the event, after which time all results will be deemed as final and complete.
It is essential that you are aware of the weather conditions during the race. It is expected to be hot with very little, if any, shade. There will be ambulances on standby throughout the duration of the race but you must take care to race sensibly in such conditions. If you start to get headaches, feel dizzy and nauseous then you may be suffering from heat exhaustion and need to seek medical advice. Listen to your body. Talk to the nearest volunteer who will be able to help you get attention.
The common symptoms of heat exhaustion include: confusion, muscle cramps, heavy sweating, headaches, nausea/vomiting and dizziness. If you become aware of these symptoms then seek medical help immediately.
Please stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids in the days leading up to the race and remember to continue to take on fluids on the morning before the swim start. During the bike and run try to drink about 500ml of fluids per hour. There will be water available from aid stations but please make sure you have sufficient fluids of your own on your bike.

The Palm Deira is an artificial archipelago, located alongside Deira town in Dubai.
The largest of the three Palm Islands, Palm Deira covers an area greater than the city of Paris. Featuring 8,000 two-storey houses, villas, and town homes, it is a thriving city in itself offering world class island living. This unique man-made palm-shaped island will consist of a trunk, a crown with 41 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island that will form a water breaker.
The island consists of residential property, marinas, shopping malls, sports facilities, clubs, and hospitality offerings.
